Inside the cellar of the historic Radio Wave Building, located at 49 West 27th Street, Patent offers two distinct day to night personalities – Patent Coffee and Patent Pending. SIMMER created the concept of Patent from the ground floor up with initial identity exploration through launch. This included: branding, interior design, graphics & illustration, print & packaging design, menu identity, website design, production (video & photography), operations, product fulfillment/sourcing, legal/compliance, copywriting/storytelling and marketing strategy. We also collaborated with NY-based firms Carpenter + Mason and Cocozza Group on the architecture and construction management elements of the project.

Patent Pending provides an intimate cocktail experience that embodies aspects of both a discreet speakeasy and neighborhood saloon. Patent's cocktail menu has been expertly crafted to provide customers with a uniquely defined spirit journey in addition to a versatile beer and wine program.
Once here, you'll be transported into a darkened, intimate escape reminiscent of a bygone era. Original brick archways surround the bronze bar top making it a perfect seat to watch our bar team at work. Additionally, Patent's corridor is accompanied with several banquettes, providing guests with space for a cocktails and conversation.
Patent Coffee provides its neighbors with a new option for their daily caffeinated fix. Clean and bright, the space welcomes guests with unique signage and it's centered with a one-of-a-kind marble slab on the freshly cut countertops. Patent Coffee echoes with lively music and serves locals and businesses alike with its fine selection of grab-and-go style coffees, teas and cold brew.
Staying true to Patent's New York roots, coffee beans are delivered weekly from a Brooklyn purveyor with an emphasis on sustainable sourcing and world varietals. For treats, Patent serves pastries from Pain D’Avignon, chia parfaits and cookies (baked fresh every hour, with two recipes from Bon Appetit’s Claire Saffitz).
